BarCamp Penang is a community-driven event which aims to bring people from all walks of life with different backgrounds together for sharing and learning in an open environment.

What is BarCamp?

BarCamp is an ad-hoc unconference. It is an unstructured event full of sessions on a variety of topics, ranging from technology, to art, and science. Anyone with something to share or with the desire to learn is welcome and invited to join.

The very first BarCamp was held in California in 2005. Since then, the event has spread like wildfire across six continents, and dozens of BarCamp events are held each year.

How It Works?

You are the speaker and the audience. Any barcamper can host a session on any topic, as long as there is no selling, sales pitch or sensitive topics involved (politics, religions, etc).

Law of Two Feet. You are encouraged to use your two feet to move from session to session if you don’t like the session you’re in, just quietly get up and go to a different session.

BarCamp is an adhoc “unconference”, and BarCampers love the unconference culture, just casual. BarCamp Penang has 4 tracks of sharing sessions. The topics & speakers will be pasted on the timetable during the event. If there are two topics competing for the same slot, we will run a casual voting session with BarCampers.

Some of the popular topics covered in the pass BarCamp Penang are Startup, Programming, UIUX, WordPress, Ecommerce, Google technology, Online & Content Marketing, 3D printing, Entrepreneurship, Selling Skills, IoT, Fintech, etc.

If you are interested to speak, please submit your topic to [email protected] or come early on 8th July to book your slot. Your talk should be educational, and remember, no sale pitch, political or religious issue or any sensitive topic in BarCamp.

Learn, Share and Network.
